Miracle 164-1001

Well, the end of my mission has come! Though mission life became crazy, and the focus of my social media missionary work changed, I still consider this miracle blog a complete and utter MIRACLE. For those who have sent in miracles that have not been posted-forgive me. But thank you so much for taking the time to consider the incredible moments where you recognized God's hand in your life. It's as we pause and appreciate those tender mercies of the Lord, that He is able to pour more miracles into our lives. I have learned over the course of my mission in Jacksonville, Florida that Heavenly Father really truly loves us. There can be miracles when you believe in God.

Love always and forever,
Sister Hutchins

Miracle 163: Gift of Music

Music can bring a person so much happiness.  This woman from Georgia received the help she needed to play the piano.

The miracle I share today is the gift of music.  I dreamed of playing the piano, and asked God if He would help me learn.  It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life.

Miracle 162: Simply Finding a Job

This miracle comes from a faithful man from Florida/Indiana. Short and Sweet.

From a couple years ago I felt I should quit my job without having another one lined up.  I spent a month at home.  I then found another job in town which allowed me to spend a lot more time with my family and that led to a promotion doing exactly what I want to be doing.

Miracle 161: A Mother's Faith

A beautiful miracle of a family who had faith that what was lost could be found in time.  This story was shared by a woman from Oregon.

This past summer we were moving cows on our ranch.  Our cousin came with us for the day.  It was the last Saturday before he left on his mission.  When we returned to the house and discovered that he had lost his wallet some miles back in the 3,000 acre field we had just gathered cattle from.  He told us that his temple recommend and drivers license were in there.  Both critical things he would need before flying to the MTC in Mexico in three days.  The next day my mom took the 4-wheeler out to try to find his brown wallet in the dirt.  My mom knew that our cousin was a good kid.  She knew that the Lord wouldn't want him to have to delay his departure.  While my mom was searching she had faith that she would be able to find his wallet.  The thought came to her head to look on the dirt road instead of searching through the acres of sagebrush.  She had remembered that we had galloped after cattle on that road and it would have been easy for the wallet to slip out of his back pocket.  With help from our Heavenly Father and from the faith my mom had she was able to easily find my cousin's wallet.  He was able to the board the plane and leave when he was scheduled to.

Miracle 160: There is Sunshine in My Soul Today...

A miracle of Heavenly Fathers love for a sister missionary in Idaho.

My miracle is when I was having a hard time and I just felt bad.  I was praying to know if Heavenly Father loved me and when I woke up the next morning in my head there was a song.  The song playing was "There is Sunshine in My Soul Today..." and I knew that that was a message straight from Him to me.  Heavenly Father loved me and that everything would be okay.

Miracle 159: Three Beautiful Pink Roses

Spring is a time when we see the renewal of life and remember our Savior, Jesus Christ.  A woman saw springs beauty and recognized its miracle.

There are simple, seemingly insignificant miracles each and everyday.  We just have to slow down and look for them.  Today I noticed three beautiful pink roses in full bloom.  Spring is here and flowers and plants are coming to life once again.  This is a miracle!

Miracle 158: The Right Path

  •  This beautiful miracle is from a fellow sister missionary serving in another mission in Florida. I am in love with her miracle story. She has an incredible blog-Take a look! Enjoy.

With my grandma's permission I wanted to share her miracle of a conversion story. It didn't come when she was baptized, but it's been a blessing in my life to see it develop. I am so thankful for the blessing of the gospel and how it can take us out of the shadows and into the light. Here are her words...

After going through the lessons with the missionaries I was baptized and confirmed a member of the church on 2/24/1979. Now that should have been the beginning of a beautiful life, but that's not what happened. I continued doing what I wanted with the idea that I was having "fun", enjoying life. Over the years I attended church with my daughter (who remained active) and her family and was able to see the difference in her lifestyle and the happiness it brought her, but it wasn't enough to get me to turn away from my own lifestyle. Then almost 6.5 years ago there were some major changes I made in my life. I quit drinking, and a couple years into my sobriety I also quit smoking. But I still knew there was more, I just knew something was missing.

I made amends as needed, and started making changes in my life. Then miracles started happening. First, my grand daughter decided to serve a mission. A few months later her brother followed suit and also decided to serve. I knew how important this was to them and made my own commitment to be as supportive as possible of their commitments. As they started relating their experiences I started sharing them with those around me and was surprised at some of the reactions I received. I was asked questions that I couldn't answer. Then my granddaughter invited me to learn about the church via Facebook messaging and Skype. She and her companions patiently answered my questions. She encouraged me to read the Book of Mormon and my son-in-law, her father, asked if I wanted to start at the beginning and read it together. To this day I read, and then we discuss it together. My grandson also participates via email, answering questions, providing encouragement and prayers. Probably the most significant contribution comes from the years of example set by my daughter, Andrea. She never faltered, continued to love me although my lifestyle caused her much pain over the years, she always kept in the back of her mind that maybe, just maybe some day......

I am now actively attending church. Based on a particularly enlightening email from my grandson I have given up coffee, which I had started drinking at the age of 12. I know that all of these things, changes brought about by repenting, studying scriptures, and faithfully praying and looking for direction, have brought many blessings to my life. When my granddaughter asked me to watch a video with her about stepping into the light I once again saw the peace and happiness in those people that I had seen so many years ago and I knew I could one day have that level of peace in my life too. I realize I have a long way to go, but I don't give up. I continue to do as I was directed by my granddaughter at the very beginning, "simply pray about it and you'll receive your own answer as to whether it is true". Guess what? it works!! The life I have now is just the beginning of what is to come and each day I want to experience the life I was always meant to live. Daily it becomes easier to choose the right path that keeps me in the light and I feel myself smiling a lot more.
